Visualizing different types of Birds based on their images

Description of Idea:
This application intents to use a bird dataset which contains about 38,500 different images, via those images, a facial detection of these birds will be done to identify each one of them. Due to time limit, we might use only 5-6 birds in our experiment. After the application is successfully build an user can point its cellphone to a bird which will identify their name and will also pop up a screen requesting if they would want to visit their wiki page etc.

Description of Data:
I will be using the dataset provided in the reddit website provided by S. Faridani, B. Lee, S. Glasscock, J. Rappole, D. Song, and K. Goldberg, “A Networked Telerobotic Observatory for Collaborative Remote Observation of Avian Activity and Range Change” in NetRob 2009 - IFAC Workshop on Networked Robotics, 2009. in the link (http://cone.berkeley.edu/app/webroot/dataset/).

Additional Information: This is my 1st programming course in iOS app development (like many of you :)). I am from the INI department majoring in MSIT-Mobility with good programming skills, I am looking for a partner who are good at manipulating datasets and have a good knowledge in facial recognition technologies.
